Work in Private or Public Employment Relations

Employment relations legislation now makes individual workplaces more responsible for reaching agreement between management and employees. This means people who can fairly and effectively manage people are now very much in demand.

The Graduate Certificate in Employment Relations will teach you about current industrial relations theory and how to apply it in a management context. You'll gain an understanding about organisations and government employment relations strategies, while learning about the different strategies available to all organisations.

You'll graduate with a theoretical and practical knowledge of:

  • People and institutions involved in - and affected by - industrial relations issues (employees, employers, employer associations, unions, industrial tribunals and other bodies); and
  • Processes used by those participants in negotiating and reaching decisions and the outcomes that arise.

This course isn't just a way to improve your management skills and accelerate personal development. It's also a perfect jump-start to an advisory, consulting or industrial officer role in an employment relations consulting firm, a union or an employer association.

As a graduate, you'll also have advanced standing toward Griffith University's Master of Employment Relations.
