Forensic mental health is where human services and the criminal justice system overlap. Specialists in this field, which include psychiatrists, pscyhologists, nurses, counsellors and social workers, work with offenders who have mental health problems.

This course is ideal for mental health professionals working in or intending to work in forensic mental health in areas such as health departments, corrections, families departments and disability services.

Among other things, you'll gain an understanding of the policies and legislation that's relevant to forensic mental health administration, and you'll learn how to assess, treat and manage forensic mental health patients.

You'll graduate as a highly qualified specialist ready for a career in this increasingly important field.

Total Units: 8 Core Units: 6 Electives: 2 Course Units Core Units Forensic Mental Health Legislation and Policies Mental Disorder and Crime Risk Assessment and Management in Forensic Mental Health Interventions and Recovery in Forensic Mental Health Ethics and Accountability in Forensic Mental Health Special Needs in Forensic Mental Health Electives Complete any two of the following units: Law and Behaviour Research Evaluation and Policy Analysis Crime Analysis and Investigation Psychology of Crime Rehabilitating Offenders
