Who is This Child Care Course for?

This TAFE child care course is especially designed for those who are working or intending to work within the children's services industry. It provides a useful introduction into understanding, caring for and supporting the development of young children.

Please note that due to legislative requirements, you need to be at least 18 years of age to gain employment in the child services industry.

Child Care Course Requirements

A Prohibited Employment Declaration must be signed by students in courses where contact will be made with children. SEEK Learning will provide you with this form when you enrol.

As part of the course assessment, you'll need to arrange work placement for a total of 100 hours. This placement will need to be pre-approved by OTEN.

You must also complete a Senior First Aid certificate in order to receive the Certificate III in Children's Services.

Flexible Study with Distance Learning

Fit your learning around your lifestyle - because the course is delivered by distance education, you have the flexibility of when and where you wish to complete your child care training.

Complete the course faster depending on the time you have available! This certificate course of 14 units is typically completed within 2 years, but you can finish earlier by increasing the time you dedicate to your studies.

  • Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) families to participate in children's services

Please note that you will need to complete Apply First Aid (a Senior First Aid certificate) in order to receive the Certificate III in Children's Services qualification. This can be completed through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), such as St John Ambulance or Australian Red Cross, at your own expense.
