Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Work

Who is This Course for?

This TAFE course is ideal for those who work or wish to work in the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector, supporting people dealing with AOD issues. You'll gain the competencies required to work as a detoxification worker, case worker, drug and alcohol worker, family support worker, outreach worker and more.

The skills you gain will prepare you to work with different groups, including Aborigines, Torres Strait Islanders and people from non-English speaking backgrounds, in a range of settings such as community-based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services.

Course Requirements

As part of the course assessment, you'll need to undertake supervised work placement for a total of 160 hours. This will help prepare you for professional alcohol and other drugs work in the community services industry. Your work placement will need to be pre-approved by OTEN.

You must also complete a Senior First Aid certificate in order to receive the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Work.
