This TAFE course is ideal for those seeking a recognised qualification to work in the child care sector. The Diploma of Children's Services qualifies you to work in centre-based and family day care, and supervise other staff and volunteers.
In most states, it is the highest qualification required at director or service manager level.
Please note that due to legislative requirements, you need to be at least 18 years of age to gain employment in the child services industry.

You'll develop the skills required to meet the intellectual, language, physical, social and emotional needs of children in care. Among other things, you'll learn how to:
A Prohibited Employment Declaration must be signed by students in courses where contact will be made with children. SEEK Learning will provide you with this form when you enrol.
As part of the course assessment, you'll need to arrange work placement for a total of 400 hours. This placement will need to be pre-approved by OTEN.
You must also complete a Senior First Aid certificate in order to receive the Diploma of Children's Services. Contact a SEEK Learning consultant to find out more about these requirements.
