What you'll learn

Work placement

This course includes a total of 210 hours of professional work placement in a community services agency.

You will do 3 placements throughout the course. ACAP's Work Place Coordinator can assist you in finding a work placement.

    HLTWHS004 - Manage work health and safety
    CHCLEG003 - Manage legal and ethical compliance

  3. Specialist interpersonal skills - Blended delivery workshop

    Unit of competency:
    CHCCSL002 - Apply specialist interpersonal and counselling interview skills

  4. Society in the Australian context

    Units of competency:
    CHCDEV002 - Analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services
    CHCDIV003 - Manage and promote diversity

  5. Case management practice 1 - Blended delivery workshop

    Units of competency:
    CHCCCS004 - Assess co-existing needs
    CHCCSM005 - Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management

  6. Workplace communication

    Unit of competency:
    CHCCOM003 - Develop workplace communication strategies

  7. Mental health

    Units of competency:
    CHCMHS001 - Work with people with mental health issues
    CHCMHS006 - Facilitate the recovery process with the person, family and carers

  8. Case management practice 2 - Blended delivery workshop

    Units of competency:
    CHCCSM004 - Coordinate complex case management requirements
    CHCCSM007 - Undertake case management in a child protection framework

  9. Program development

    Units of competency:
    CHCCCS007 - Develop and implement service programs
    CHCMGT005 - Facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes

Upon completion, you may apply for admission into ACAP's Bachelor of Applied Social Science, Bachelor of Counselling or Bachelor of Counselling (Coaching) programs with advanced standing equivalent to eight modules.
