SEEK Learning’s Defining Work-Life Balance Report reveals that over one in two Australians have changed jobs in search of better work-life balance, with most (70%) ultimately achieving it.
But what does work-life balance actually mean to the average Australian?
- 34% of workers define work-life balance as having flexibility in their work hours or location.
- 27% of workers believe a positive work-life balance occurs when work doesn’t disrupt their home life.
- 23% of workers think good work-life balance involves working overtime when needed, but being able to take personal time off when needed as well.
- 15% of workers describe work-life balance as only working your set agreed hours every week (e.g. no overtime).

- 2. Real Estate & Property - 67% workers rate their job as excellent or good
- 3. Consulting & Strategy - 66% workers rate their job as excellent or good
- 4. Marketing & Communications - 66% workers rate their job as excellent or good
- 5. Insurance & Superannuation - 66% workers rate their work-life balance as excellent or good
